NEWS:

And now for something a little different…

SK was appointed by Step and Salix Homes to provide transport and highways advice for the regeneration of a residential area in Seedley, Salford.

Acknowledging CIHT latest guidance that promotes designs that create places for people, rather than cars, SK developed a strategy to help to tip the balance from more traditional highway design to embed sustainable movement from the outset. SK undertook an extensive study into UK precedents and latest street design guidance to allow the development of a people-focused strategy that accommodates cars, but prioritises active and inclusive mobility. The final scheme resulted in a positive response from the road safety auditors and assisted in helping the highway authority move from a more typical street design policy in this location.

SK prepared the Transport Statement, Travel Plan and precedent street design study for the planning application. The scheme was granted planning permission earlier this year.
