NEWS:
A planning application has been submitted by the University of Salford for the redevelopment of its Castle Irwell site to provide up to 500 dwellings, up to 2,323sqm of commercial space and a school.
Until 2015 the site provided accommodation for 1,500 students attending the University of Salford. Prior to this the site housed a racecourse. The redevelopment of this important site will assist in the regeneration of the Charlestown area of Salford, providing family homes, new shops for the local area and a new school. The proposed development is supported by a comprehensive transport strategy that prioritises sustainable access and will assist in alleviating known congestion issues in the area.
SK provided transport planning and highway design advice, including the preparation of the Transport Assessment and Travel Plan for the planning application.
