NEWS:

The road to Wigan Pier

SK was appointed by Step Places to advise on the exciting proposals to revitalise the iconic Wigan Pier. Originally built in the 1790s, the site includes a 2,137sqm warehouse, the Orwell pub and 418sqm education centre. Designed by Southgate Sarabia the proposals include new waterside homes, food hall and extensive events venue. A gin distillery and microbrewery with café, bar and deli features are included in the old museum. The events space will provide space for conferences, weddings and exhibitions, and the former education space will be used as community and cultural workshops. The space is to be operated by the wonderful people from The Old Courts, who already successfully operate a cultural venue in Wigan town centre.

SK prepared a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan for the planning application. The proposal was granted planning consent earlier in the year and the scheme is scheduled for completion in March 2020.
